    Good to Know

Picture
Introduced to wandering and ceramics at a young age, Ashley Thompson has had one foot outside in the mud and one hand in clay ever since. She burned through 8 of her 9 lives before her first son was born and lives dangerously only through clay now. She is consumed by the endless puzzle-solving opportunities that this medium presents, influenced by the din of the city and an instinct to hunt for hidden treasures. An empathetic force who accentuates the value in what remains when we uncenter traditional beauty, she purposefully elevates collaborators in her artistic and personal life while unapologetically disrupting the exploitation class. Despite that, she realizes that making connections and community is the only real meaning of life.

Current Exhibitions:

Ashley Thompson is Awarded BEST OF SHOW - Small Works @ Georgetown Art Center.

The Small Works exhibit showcases a diverse array of miniature masterpieces from local and regional artist, celebrating creativity and craftsmanship in a compact format, resulting in a diverse and compelling display. The exhibit offers an intimate viewing experience, encouraging close inspection and appreciation of the intricate details and unique styles that make each work of art a standout.
This is a juried exhibition with cash prizes for selected winners. The 2025 Small Works Judge is Debra Newby Watkins of Link & Pin Gallery.

"the aesthetics of imperfection"
As each item is crafted individually, transformed by the magic and mystery of the kiln, creations will differ from factory produced items. Thankfully! While I only offer high-quality, durable goods, the nature of handcrafted pottery means that slight imperfections may be present.
Embrace the unique.
  • Work is produced in small series and each is one-of-a-kind.
  • High-fire stoneware.
  • Most are food safe and dishwasher safe.
  • Minimalism is lame.
